Responsibilities

Tim Costello is senior director of chemistry for Furiex. His responsibilities include identifying, initiating and managing contract manufacturing and consultant services that provide active ingredients or clinical supplies; setting analytical requirements; and managing the testing of supplies, along with contributing to and reviewing regulatory filings. He is also responsible for performing scientific due diligence in support of new in-licensing opportunities and evaluating potential chemical and regulatory strategies for compounds in development.

Experience

Dr. Costello has more than 26 years of industrial chemistry experience, including more than 20 years in pharmaceutical development. He has worked for pharmaceutical companies, such as DuPont Pharma and Forest Laboratories, and PPD, as well as acted as an independent consultant.

His areas of expertise include organic and analytical chemistry, from small scale through pilot plant scale, and solid-state chemistry development as it applies to preformulation and formulation development.

Education

Dr. Costello earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Duke University and a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh.
